one year in Australia

One year in Australia – First part

It was the 6th of November 2008 when I touch for the first time the kangaroo earth as we call this wonderful continent, and now after a year I am still down under...I cannot imagine that I am still here, and that last weekend I have been to NZ to change my visa!!!It was not easy to come back to Australia but fortunately the custom consented to come back! Anyway...a year it is not enough it was to quick...and I have to find the solution to stay longer in order to better discover the Australian culture.

In fact now I am with a tourist visa, valid for three months...so early February it will expire, but by that date I will find something to do...I am sure!
I am not just by myself down here, but there is also Daniele. He has been living here for about 6 months he arrived last August, with the intention to stay until January and then probably he will come back to Milan. We live together in Bronte a fantastic place close to the ocean. We live with Diana, a 42 years old girl and for 2 weeks per months also with her son Gabriel. In addition to all these human being we have Bengalino the Bengal cat. It has been living with us for probably 2 months. It is very cute but it scratches everything. Daniele has all the arms and legs scratched.
Normally after one year it is the moment to do an assessment and look back and give some feedback about the experience.
Now a days I am still without a proper job, I mean, something that I really like and that can give to me the possibility to stay here. I have done a couple of job interviews but still here there are the negative effects from the financial crises (GFC). Moreover, the fact that I do not have the permanent residence this limits a lot my possibility to find a job.

But I am still confident that something can happen.....

During this period here I have met a lot of people and also my actual girlfriend V. I have friend from different nationality, Australian, Korean, Chinese, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabian, Iranian, French, English and naturally Italian. I love that, and this give to me the possibility to know different culture, one of the main reasons why I came here.

Here in Australia I discovered as well the Asian cousin, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese etc...my favourite is Thai, very hot and colourful and the best restaurant in Sydney is Spice I am….
